The Local Frequency, a Shop Local Cash-Back Program launched in Southwestern Manitoba with the help of Sunrise Credit Union

On Wednesday November 22nd, 2017, The Local Frequency, working together with Sunrise Credit Union, launched in Southwestern Manitoba at an event held in Brandon. The launch event, was held at the Prairie Firehouse, one of the first businesses in Brandon to participate in the program.

The Local Frequency is a shop local cash-back program focused on keeping money recirculating in the local economy. Sunrise Credit Union and The Local Frequency are excited to be working together to launch the program in Southwestern Manitoba.

“When we were first approached to get involved with the program, it was easy to see how this would add extra value to the communities we serve, circulating money within the community rather than extracting it to outside sources” said Tayona Johnas, VP Strategic Development and Wealth Management.  “Local businesses create jobs, support other local businesses and charities and generally improve the social fabric of communities”.

How The Local Frequency works: Use the FREE app or card, earn cash back on your purchases, and pay with the app/card at locally-owned and independently-operated businesses. Earn 1% back on credit card purchases, 3% back on cash/debit purchases, and 10-40% back when taking advantage of in-app offers.
