Be advised that there is an issue on point-of-sale (POS) devices at some merchant locations. The problem results in cards issued in 2019 (debit & credit) being declined. The problem has nothing to do with your financial institution, but with a software upgrade on specific POS devices.

  • If you experience an issue with your debit card, you could split your transaction into two to allow for contactless (tap) transactions.
  • Some members have reported pushing OK when they receive the error message. For some, this bypasses the error message and allows the transaction to proceed.
  • We recommend that members have cash on hand as a backup.

If you receive unexpected card declines at a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, encourage the merchant to contact their Merchant Network Services Provider to update their software.
