Critical Care on the Air Radiothon

On June 18, the Critical Care on the Air Radiothon Westman will take place on Pure Country 101 and 96.1 BOB-FM.

Sunrise Credit Union is the presenting sponsor for the radiothon, which will run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to raise funds for the STARS Air Ambulance service.

The radiothon will include interviews with Sunrise President and CEO, Tim Klassen, STARS crew members, allies and patients as they relate the message about the importance of STARS life-saving service.

Since beginning full-time operations in Manitoba in 2011, STARS has flown more than 3,900 missions from its base in Winnipeg. It costs approximately $10 million a year to operate the base. The Province of Manitoba covers 90% of the cost, with 10% covered by donations and sponsorship.

One of the services provided by donations is stocking blood in advance for life-saving transfusions in air medical missions.

During the radiothon, there are three ways for the general public to contribute:

  • Online at
  • By calling 1-877-57-STARS (577-8277)
  • Text STARS to 45678 to make a $20 donation.

Each dollar raised stays in Manitoba and helps ensure the next time you or someone you love needs STARS, they will be there.
