Sunrise Credit Union congratulates Laura Glover of Boissevain on being named a Valeyo Learning Grant recipient last month.

Glover recently graduated from Boissevain High School, earning a spot on the school’s Honour Roll while taking several elective courses related to business, science, and social justice. In addition, Glover was active in extracurricular activities, including a role with Student Government. She helped the Broncos captured the MHSAA “A” and JV “A/AA” Girls’ Championships in basketball 2018-2019 and the MHSAA JV “A/AA” Girls’ title in volleyball the same year.

Laura chose to concentrate on competitive equestrian show jumping in her final two years of high school. In addition to being a member of the Canadian Pony Club and the Manitoba Miniature Horse Club, she was also a member of the Boissevain 4-H Beef Club for multiple years. She was also a member and instructor with the Boissevain Skating Club.

The Valeyo Learning Grant provides $1,000 scholarships to students who are members of a participating credit union in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Applicants submit an essay of 500 words or less OR a video of two minutes or less describing their academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement.

Glover intends to use the scholarship to attend Assiniboine Community College (ACC) in Brandon this fall, where she will be taking Business Administration - Accounting. She plans to continue to be involved with extracurricular activities while attending ACC over the next two years.
