Credit cardholders through Sunrise Credit Union can now access their Mastercard account on AccountPlus through MemberDirect. This feature provides members with the convenience of a single consolidated view of products offered through Sunrise Credit Union, including their Mastercard account.

You can add your credit card through MemberDirect after signing into online banking.

When you use your Sunrise Credit Union debit card for a purchase, you've got the following benefits:

Buyer Protection

This coverage offers protection on most retail items, including gifts, for 120 days after the purchase, whether an item is protected if stolen, dropped, broken, or consumed in a fire.

Are you purchasing with a cheque? No problem! As long as you've drawn the cheque from your insured account, you receive the same protection for your purchase.

Valid claims will be satisfied either by replacing the stolen or damaged item or by a cash payment in an amount that does not exceed the total purchase price.

A unique benefit for Sunrise Credit Union members!

Credit cards offer similar products, but this one is truly unique for debit cards and only available to credit union members.

  • Buyer Protection coverage is a full 120 days from the date of purchase

Making a claim

Be sure always to keep a copy of your transaction record, receipt, and (for warranty claims) the manufacturer's warranty. Then, call 1 (800) 263-9120, ext. 22880, and a Claims Representative will assist you.

Extended Warranty

The program doubles the warranty period of a purchased item up to two years, as long as the manufacturer's warranty is valid in Canada for five years or less. For example, the manufacturer would typically offer a one-year warranty when you buy a blender. But, if you use your credit union debit card for the purchase, the blender is protected under the terms of the original warranty for an additional one-year period. Best of all, there are no applications and no extra costs! It's all included with your MemberCard®.

Are all types of purchases covered?

Many types of purchases are protected. For example, we have reimbursed members for jewelry, sunglasses, golf clubs, clothing, computer equipment, video games, cellphones, cameras, furniture, appliances, iPads, trampolines, toys, and more.

Examples of items not covered: cash, travelers' cheques, motorized vehicles, items intended for commercial purposes, animals, living plants, food, and other perishables; also, sporting items lost or damaged through the ordinary course of use.

CRA Direct Deposit

Get your benefits payments and tax refunds faster by enrolling in CRA Direct Deposit. The enrollment form is located in MemberDirect under “Account Services >Set up CRA Direct Deposit”. Individuals who have existing CRA direct deposit service may not need to re-enroll. Taxpayers who are not currently enrolled with CRA for direct deposit will need to do so.

Deposit AnywhereTM

With Deposit Anywhere, you can quickly and securely deposit cheques with your smartphone or tablet, from anywhere, day or night. This service is fast, free and just as secure as depositing your cheque at a branch.

Here's how it works:

  • Open the Sunrise Mobile App on your mobile device.
  • Select your account and enter the amount.
  • Snap a photo of the front and back of your cheque.
  • Confirm the details and tap 'submit'.

ding free®

Say goodbye to ATM fees. As a member of Sunrise Credit Union, you have access to a national network of ATMs that don’t charge you for using them. It’s a network that’s bigger than most banks, and it’s all ding free. To find the nearest ding free ATM, download our ding free locator app on your smartphone, look for the ding free decal on participating ATMs, or visit the ding free website for more information.

Direct Alert

Sunrise Credit Union takes every step possible to ensure the safety and confidentiality of your funds and personal information.

However, Direct Alert can add additional protection to allow our members to identify and report potentially fraudulent activity.

There is no charge to members for receiving alerts from Sunrise Credit Union. However, your Mobile Service Provider may charge you for receiving text messages or data usage. Members should check with their providers for more information on their billing practices.

We do not transmit personal information in a Direct Alert text message or email. We identify accounts by nickname only, and no account numbers, balance, or identifying details are visible. Also, remember that Sunrise Credit Union will NEVER ask you to provide personal information in an email or text message.

If you change your mobile device number or email address, you can log into Sunrise Credit Union online banking or the mobile app and change your contact information.

If you lose your mobile device, contact your service provider to suspend your service. Then, log into Sunrise Credit Union online banking to deactivate the alerts sent to your device.

Direct Deposit

Direct deposit service allows members to have their money electronically deposited directly to their accounts.

Interac® e-Transfer

Interac e-Transfer is a fast, secure way to send, request and receive money directly from one bank account to another.

All you need is access to online or mobile banking through a participating financial institution, and you can send or request money to anyone with an email address or mobile phone number and a bank account in Canada — without sharing any personal financial information.

Interac Flash®

This contactless version of Interac Debit is the secure way to make everyday purchases faster and more conveniently. Simply hold your Interac Flash-enabled debit card over the contactless payment terminal and your purchase is automatically paid for, right from your account.

International Transfer

Sunrise Credit Union offers an International Transfer service for our members. International Transfers is a low-cost foreign exchange solution. It enables members to transfer money internationally through online banking, including their U.S. accounts with Sunrise Credit Union.

International Transfers can accommodate a number of your needs, including:

  • Sending money to friends or family who live overseas.
  • Supporting a family member who is travelling overseas.
  • Paying for a wedding abroad.
  • Paying for overseas medical expenses.
  • Paying for accommodation/luxury holidays overseas.

Members have access to international money transfers through online banking anytime and from any device. The service provides convenient 24/7 access, access to live rates, transfers sent directly to the recipient’s account, and there are no deductions (ever) on the transfer amount.
